FAQs
You can RSVP right here, on our website. This is where you will inform us of any dietary restrictions, and confirm which events of the wedding weekend you can attend. If you need any help with the RSVP function on our website, please feel free to contact Alexander or Elizabeth directly.
Kindly RSVP by March 1, 2024, at the latest. Due to the intricacies of hosting a wedding on a different continent than in which we live, early RSVPs are encouraged and appreciated.
Chateau de La Hulpe, about 25-30 minutes southeast of central Brussels. We will transport all guests to the wedding venue via buses. If you are from Belgium and/or will have a car, you are welcome to drive yourself to the wedding. We have reserved you a seat on the bus, so please let us know if you will be driving yourself instead.
The buses will leave at 3:30pm sharp, and we cannot accommodate late comers. Please make sure you arrive at the bus on time or a bit early to ensure a timely departure. The buses will be located a 2-3 minute walk from the hotels, at Bd de l'Impératrice 15, 1000 Bruxelles, Belgium outside of Europabank. This is because buses cannot drive on the old city streets outside the hotel. There will be an attendant in the lobby of each wedding block hotel (Le Dix and Ibis) directing you to the bus location. Please make sure you give your name as you board to bus. We will be checking to make sure all our guests are onboard.
Buses and van shuttles will be available to take all guests back to central Brussels. Buses will be available starting at midnight and will run until the end of the wedding, at 2:30am. If you wish to leave the wedding before midnight you will likely be able to call an Uber. Please let the bus attendant know if you leave separately.
We have reserved wedding blocks at two hotels for your convenience. Both the Ibis and Hotel Le Dixsepteimbe have provided discounted rates that will be available to all guests until February 26, 2024. Please make sure to book before this date to ensure the best rate and room availability. Booking information is available on the homepage of our website under “Stay.”
You are of course welcome to stay anywhere you wish, but you will need to come to the 2 wedding hotels to catch the wedding bus. We recommend staying near Grand Place.
We’re calling it ‘cocktail casual,’ but you could wear anything from a cocktail dress, a blazer with no tie, to a nice top with jeans. The welcome drinks party is being held in a french-style bar in central Brussels, part of the Delirium Beer Village. Overall, we just want you to be comfortable! This is our most casual event of the weekend.
This party is our ode to Alexander’s Indian heritage. We will be dressed in traditional lehengas, sherwanis, and sarees, and welcome you to join us. If you are not Indian and don’t know where to shop for such clothing, try these sites: Etsy, Kalki, Panash India, and ASOS. Additionally, western cocktail attire will be perfectly appropriate!
Black Tie. Black tie traditionally means single breasted tuxedos with bowties and cummerbunds or double breasted tuxedos for men and floor length, formal dresses for women. If you have a formal cultural dress, like a sherwani or Scottish kilt for example, that is also appropriate if it is the most formal outfit from your culture.
The Floris Bar, which is across the alley from the main Delirium Beer Village. Imp. de la Fidélité 12, 1000 Bruxelles, Belgium.
Bibliotheque Solvay, located at Leopoldpark Rue Belliard 137 1040 Bruxelles, Belgium.
Your wedding invitation will have the name of each guest invited, as well as the number of seats reserved in your honor on the RSVP card. Due to size and venue restrictions, we please ask that you respect this. We are having a wedding on the smaller side, and you are invited because you are very important to us!
Unfortunately, due to venue limitations and other factors, children are not invited to attend the wedding. We love your children, but the wedding will be 18 and up, with no exceptions. We know this adds difficulty for families and would love to help you find childcare if your children will be with you in Brussels. Reach out to Alexander or Elizabeth if interested.
Yes, the ceremony and cocktail hour are planned to be outside. The wedding ceremony will be on the front terrace of the chateau. You will be seated on the stone terrace, overlooking the larger park. The cocktail hour will take place in the French gardens outside the chateau. This will be on grass, and we will have heel protectors available for women who choose to wear stiletto heels.
This is Belgium, so we’re assuming it might rain. In the case of rain, the wedding ceremony will take place in the Orange Saloon inside the chateau, overlooking the French garden. Because of size restrictions, there will only be 50 seats available, and we kindly ask the remaining guests to stand. The ceremony will be quick!
That’s a great question. Belgium in the spring ranges from very warm and sunny to chilly and rainy. Be prepared for anything! We encourage you to bring a light jacket or shawl just in case. Based on the weather from 2023, our wedding date was 75 and sunny, yet the day before was a high of 62.
We will have a cocktail hour followed by a seated dinner. After the dinner, we will have music, dancing, and late-night snacks.
Yes, of course. We are following Belgian traditions and from the cocktail hour through dinner, we will be serving wine, beer, and champagne. A full liquor bar will open at 10pm during the reception.
